TRUSTED SINCE 1946

The Founding Family

Our founder Bill Zimmer and his wife Roberta bought a small jewelry store in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina and changed its name to REEDS Jewelers. After finding success, the Zimmer’s expanded to other cities in the Carolinas. By 1979, they controlled two dozen retail outlets while still running their original Wilmington store. As they built their business, they built their family, and all four children grew up working at REEDS. From the very first moment we opened our doors, the only thing that truly mattered was our guests. As our business has grown, we continue to uphold our founders' vision of a place where, once inside our doors, no one would ever be a stranger again.

Alan Zimmer

Alan officially joined REEDS in 1985 after graduating with his MBA from Tulane University. Over the decades he’s helped make REEDS what it is today… a destination for fine jewelry and luxury timepieces. Although he’s a busy CEO, he still finds time to... give back to his community and the Jewelry Industry. Alan serves on the executive committee for Jewelers for Children and as a board member of the Jewelers Vigilance Committee and Jewelers Security Alliance. Formerly, he served as Chairman of Jewelers of America. In 2019, Alan was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Gemological Society.

Mark Schreiber

A graduate of the University of Alabama, GIA Graduate Gemologist and a timepiece connoisseur, Mark is truly an industry expert. In addition to having vast knowledge of jewelry and timepieces, he’s also responsible for hiring the best and brightest to work... in our stores. Marks goal is to make sure that every customer is satisfied and leaves with a smile.

Brittney Zimmer

Saying that Brittney loves jewelry and timepieces is an understatement. After college she received an advanced degree in 3D Jewelry Design and Gemology from the Gemological Institute of America. Today she’s responsible for sourcing... only the finest diamonds and jewelry for our customers. She also finds time to give back by serving on the board of Jewelers for Children and being active in the Women’s Jewelry Association

Genna Zimmer

After college, Genna began a career in corporate finance, but she quickly felt REEDS calling her home. In 2015, she rejoined the REEDS team and soon thereafter completed her MBA at the Wharton School of Business. Genna is passionate about helping... her grandfathers legacy stay alive, and works tirelessly to make sure REEDS is headed in the right strategic direction to stay in business for another 75+ years. She takes pride in finding efficiencies, while also making sure that every customer and employee feels like family.
